Repetitive Cage

 Repetitive Cage

Refusal to squeal, spear-splitting scene.

Ignore duty and career ambition.

Claim passion shown when metal struck that beam;

Last person alive breaks with admission.

Modernist sees where lust may be hidden

He yearned for Billy but for ban or fate.

Years past such lovers were things forbidden.

What follows? Such feelings must turn to hate?

Are we so enlightened, our views today?

Helping the closeted at every turn.

Look for meaning in a book, poem or play.

No time is a zenith, of this we learn.

Are we clearer? Those shows do us slight favor

with some ambiguous next door neighbor.
