Is 12 Angry Men the greatest American made film ever?
Collider Magazine, the digital entertainment publication just released a list of their 20 greatest American Movies of all-time. Topping the list was the 1957 version of 12 Angry Men with a stellar cast that was directed by Sidney Lumet:
https://collider.com/best-american-movies-ever-made-ranked/I guess this gives me an excuse to trot out the comments I placed on IMDb.com several years ago. Now, it will help if you have seen the film; if you haven't well SHAME ON YOU!
"The most significant line in the movie is when Lee J. Cobb suggested they also play Devil's Advocate for the district attorney and Henry Fonda shuts him down.
I hope you remember it, because it explains why juries should really just approach the case based on the evidence before them. Now, it was pretty clear that the defense team had done a shameful job and by-all-rights you wanted to help out. (No one wants to send an innocent person away or to the death house).
But if you spend 2 hours making (even creating) the case for 'not guilty' and don't offer up any potential resistance to those jury room claims, no one would ever be convicted of a crime."
I wonder if THAT was the point of this story?.
